Disability-related postponed exam request

Disability-related postponed exam request

If a student is unable to take an exam as scheduled due to a disability‑related reason, they may be eligible to take the exam with the DAC within 2–5 business days of the original exam date.

This accommodation relies on timely, clear communication between the student, instructor, and DAC. While DAC works to support flexibility when possible, timely communication is essential for the accommodation to be implemented.

Steps for Arranging a Disability‑Related Postponed Exam

  1. Notify DAC and the Instructor Promptly
The student must email both drs@wwu.edu and their instructor before the missed exam, or as soon as possible if circumstances prevent advance notice.
  2. Agree on a New Exam Date and Time
The student and instructor must agree on a new exam date and time.
    1. For this accommodation, the DAC requires at least 2 business days’ notice to ensure adequate staffing, space, and accommodations in DAC’s Testing Center.
  3. Schedule the Exam in myDAC
Once a new date and time are agreed upon, the student must schedule the exam through their myDAC dashboard.
    • In the notes section, the student should indicate that instructor approval was provided via email to the DAC Testing Center.

Important Notes

  • DAC needs both the instructor’s written approval AND the student’s exam request in their DAC Portal at least 2 business days in advance
    • Failure to follow the steps above may limit DAC’s ability to administer the postponed exam.
  • To minimize disruption to the course and maintain exam integrity, postponed exams should be scheduled as close to the original exam date as possible.
  • This accommodation is intended for disability‑related barriers, not general scheduling conflicts.
